Hi. Newbie to these forums, so go easy on me.
So I decided to change my oil on my R after putting roughly 1000 miles on it. I go to the Yamaha Dealership and ask them to help me with purchasing oil (this is, of course, my first bike). They ask me if I did my 600 mile service, and I told them no. So, the salesman told me to really get that done before doing anything to it.
Here's my question: Has any one of you ever skipped the 600 mile service? Anything happen in the long run? What can happen in the long run if I don't do it?
Obviously, the main reason why I can't do it this second is money. It costs quite a bit to do the service, and I have to wait 2 weeks for my next paycheck to come in to even consider it. A few of my friends that own bikes skipped their 600 mile service, but I could care less about what they do to their bikes.
Also, I'm no uber mechanic, so doing the service myself is sorta out of the question.
Any opinion is highly suggested.
Thanks.
