I'm on the market for a r6 between 99-01 models. Are there any differences other than the colors? I know the 01 models have the better looking rear end and i would personally prefer a 01 but my aim is to get the cleanest 2nd hand bike possible not the latest one. Unless there are many improvements and changes made on 00 or 01 i don't have to be patient and wait i can just buy a 99 model. Please help this newbie

Ive got some info on how yamaha changed the R6 from 99 to 02. I have a 99 R6,

Grab any 99-02 they are very similar (a few lightening-up changes i think). Also, you can mod the tail section to look like the 01-02s on the 99-00s.

99-02 R6 = great bikes!!!

Ive done the tail convertion on my 99R6. looks the mutz now.

I believe the biggest difference between the 99-02 and even today's bikes was that the '00 is the fastest. Especially the Red ones. YEA!

My 2000 model seems to be faster than the other R6's too!Especially as it is RED :hehe
