ive got an 07 r6 had it for about a year now...almost. at 40 mph in second gear (around 8k) if i hit the throttle...its very very sluggish...but if im going 48 mph + its very fast...if im going 35 mph (no faster than that) its fine. but if i got 36/37 mph to about 47 mph it has no power in second gear...i know the 06/07 R1s have a similar problem around 5k so im wondering is this a recall? id like to figure this out before my warranty is up next month! can someone please tell me what this is?

the bike is only lowered for the drag strip. when i brought it home after that night it went right back to stock height. but anyways, my friends 07 R1 has the same problem but he never got any letters from yamaha either.

hmm would have to try this I know today I almost got run over when someone decided to switch lanes into the same one I was switching into at that speed and it didn't seem to be slugish at all but I only have about 1100 on my 07 and not sure what the gear was. Maybe it's just I haven't been on another bike in a while.

I have an 06 and it has done the samething since it was new in second gear around 7-8000 rpm. It accelerate fine through that point but say ur doin a roll on in second gear next to ur buddy on a GSXR-600 :)sing) it will just bog and not really accelerate for about 1 or 2 seconds then it goes like hell. I have just come to the conclusion that it is a bizarre fueling/electronic issue and forgotten about it. Oh well lol.

My 07 R6 is not found of full throttle from lower rpms (under 11k). If I apply almost full throttle I get a much better response than jamming the grip as far as it goes. With the YCCT there are some quirks I've noticed along the mid range and when you use wide open throttle.

I work for a yamaha dealership and have owned my 2000 R6 for about 7 years. The R6 really doesn't make power until around 8000 rpms. The R1 is the same way no matter what year they are. If you jam the throttle at a low speed the engine is slow to rev until it builds more rpms.
