It’s been awhile. I sold my 08 R6 a few years ago, and bought a 09 R1 (my dream bike). I’ve taken my R1 to the track, and I just can’t get use to it. It has a lot of power, and I keep making mistakes (amazed I haven’t wadded it up yet). So I was thinking, why not go back to the R6? With that bike, I remembered that (to me), I could push myself a lot more and feel more confident. So the opportunity came to last week, and I bought a wrecked, clean titled 09 R6? Can’t wait to get started.

My guy didn't lose the fairing screws but removed all the push-lock fasteners & didn't replace any- using a couple wireties to hold the rear fairing stuff together. Probably have put a dozen fasteners in empty holes at this point...

I also have some a few extra parts like levers, third eye light (in red), TST industries smoked integrated talllight, TST blinker relay, TST block off plate for OEM plate bracket, TST turn signals. I'm also going to take the plunge and order some Auctmarts fairings here pretty soon.

I've been staring at those auctmart fairings too, seems like the reviews are pretty good these days. Looking forward to more progress!

My new front & rear turn signals should be here in a day or so, the gen1 OEM signals are soooo ugly- have had several folks admire the look of the bike but then they see the signals... :yuk:

Put on a cox radiator shield and got the accessory circuit wired in for the chain oiler & camera power supply- all that stuff fits pretty well under the pillion seat.

Here are some updates.

My Auctmarts kit came in. I ordered them on December 5th, and the showed up to my house on December 24th. From start to delivery to my front door was great.... so far.

I broke open the box to do a inspection of the items and so far, paint quality is great. No broken or chipped pieces. I did a mock-up fitting with the rear tail fairings, so far everything seems to fit. But then again, I will officially know how everything fits when I bolt the stuff together. They supplied their version of a faring bolt kit, and it’s not very good. I will have to go out and get a fairing bolt kit.

I will do a update as soon as I get some odds and ends pieces to really make sure it’s put back together properly.

Putting the fairings together.....finally. Everything bolts up fine. I did have to bore out some of the holes (Giggity). I just need to mount them to the bike. The only hiccup that I have found so far, is that the rear seat cowl that I got with the kit, doesn’t fit right (panel gap, and a bit of a over hang). In all Auctmarts make a pretty decent kit. I’ll post more when I get it all together.

Got the side fairings on today... this is where everything goes... wrong?. I put the side fairings on and it is a pain in the a$$. The front of the mid fairing won’t connect to the upper. I took the fairing apart to see if it was designed to be put together in stages. This part sucked. When I put everything together, it was even worse to match up all of the tabs. The tail section went together fine, a little bit tight, but no big deal. The headlight fairings didn’t have one problem, but the side fairings are a different story. I’m going to call Auctmarts tomorrow about this problem.

Yea that is the problem with aftermarket fairings. You sometimes have to get real creative when fitting them and not every OEM fastener can be used due to fitment issues. I didn't use Auctmart, but a similar company, and I had to take the Dremel to a lot of little bits to get them on. But my fairings on an 07 have a little less to mate up to. The price we pay for cheaper fairings I suppose. Don't think Auctmart will do anything, but best of luck.

Finished adjusting the kit. It fits. I had to take a step back and clear my head, before re- attempting this kit. I took off the side fairings and re-assembled them piece by piece on the bike. It worked out a lot better this time. I broke off two tabs (sucks), but for the most part, not bad. Glad I took some time to cool down before blowing a head gasket. I just need a few little things to finish it off. I will try to get a picture of it in the sun.
