ive heard that lowering the bike hurts its performance but i was wondering if theres a way to do it so it helps the performance.

No there isn't as far as I know.

The only increase in performance will be if your drag racing & it'll help to keep the front end down for better take-offs.

droping the front would definitley not hurt it if you did just 5mm it would turn better for sure it might get a bit flighty but if you've a damper and frankly i would'nt ride a bike without one you should be okay!

It depends on why/how you want to lower it, If you just want it lower to the ground over all, you'll have to lower both the front and back with a slight bias toward the front so it'll still handle light. If you just want to lower the front to help it turn in quicker/easier, then as long as you dont go too far it shouldnt be a problem.
