My 6 just got stolen about an hour ago at Doheny Park in Cambridge, MA. It was a new 2003 Silver/Black R6 completely stock. Only a little over 2,000 miles.

If any East Coast riders hear any buzz....I'd appreciate an leads. I just want to hunt them down!!!

Be careful folks. Protect her well.

J/P man, that really sux bro. I don't know what I'd do if my R got stolen. (Probably go crazy like BRIAN FELLOWS)

This is making me wonder, and now I have a question: How easy is it to steal a bike? How long would it take for a person(s) to actually steal a bike?

Hope they find the bastards that stole your R.

how fast can 2 guys pick it up and but it in the back of a pickup, or a full size van?? That is how fast they steal them.

Sorry to hear about your 6 chun! that sucks...I hate that people are like that.

sorry to hear man. I will keep an eye down this way for it. send me the VIN number and I will have my brother enter it into the police computers down here so they can keep an eye out for it and if they come across it, they will know.

wow man thats wacked. sorry for your loss....

on a side note i was riding home saturday to watertown, i was actually in watertown on mt auburn street. i was at a set of lights, and i saw a cop car a few cars back, no worried. next think i know this lady cop walks up on the right side.

cop - do you mind if i check out your bike?

me - (im like oh great what now) no officer, is there something wrong?

cop - no, we just picked up a stolen bike just like this one, the vin numbers were filed off. (she points to where they were) ya right here, i just wanted to see where they were. yup this is the same bike, delta box III. nice bike (light turns green)

me - oh, well gotta go, have a good day

and i rode off. i don't know what color the bike was that was stolen, mine is blue.

call the watertown police, maybee its your bike.

That really bites man. The sad(er) thing is that if you get it back, you probably won't want it. My FZR was stolen and ridden HARD for a week until the cops caught the guy ridin' it. I had kept that bike in pristine condition and when I got it back it was like an old used crack whore with no teeth. Completely trashed. I turned it into insurance and let them total it out. :comp

Thanks for all the support fellas! It makes it easier to get through a loss like this when you have a bunch of pals that can sympathize with your pain.

To answer some of your questions: My 6 was stolen during daylight hours between 6pm - 8pm. Most likely, a couple of guys just lifted it up onto a truck bed and took off. It really doesn't take that much time with the help of their asshole friends. Damn thiefs!!

The only silver lining is that I'm fully insured. I'll take a monetary loss, but some $$$ is better than none.

It's not really the money that pisses me off, it's just the fact that I got ripped off by a bunch of shmucks. :cuss

Oh well....life goes on.

Remember folks...protect your baby!!!

Yeah, ive been watching this... hoping you get your bike back. Sorry to hear its not back. But its good to hear you have the insurance to cover it.

I take it you didnt have it locked down?

Where was it parked when it was stolen?

Im getting more and more paranoid with my bike these days.

Shit, I hope things work out for you, man. I was thinking about getting one of those cheap cable locks that I can keep in my trunk. I know they're easy to cut through, but at least it'll keep some fuckers from trying to carry it away if they don't have the tools.

I usually don't lock my bike up when I'm out and about, but I have a Scorpio alarm with pager, so hopefully I'll be within pager range if anyone ever messes with my bike. At home I have it parked in front of my car, locked with the biggest+baddest bike chain I could find to a pole, with the Scorpio on silent alarm (ie Pager only) w/ perimeter sensor. That way if they start working on the chain they won't know they've set the alarm off until they see me.

Bikes are so light these days guys. It only takes a couple of guys with a van and they can get any sportbike they want. I wonder if GPS tracking is available for bikes... now THAT would rock.

Yes. Well it is in tokyo.

I was watching a show were some chopshop stole this CBR from downtown Chiba district in Tokyo and took it 300 miles north into the countryside. Well there was a gps tracking thing on it (sorry I dont know exactly what it was, my japanese was too poor at the time) But basicly it fell off the bike right outside the chopshop and the securrity company dialed into it and discovered the entire ring.

Cant you put a lojack system on a bike?

So I called Watertown Police to see if the bike they recovered was mine, but they said it was reported to Cambridge Police and it wasn't a match.

:cuss

I don't know if I should buy a new 6 or wait until next season? What do you guys think? I'm almost too afraid of getting a new one and having it ripped off again.

don't see why you couldn't. this needs to be investigated further.

give the police some time to do their job and then make a decision. besides, your insurance company probably wants a copy of the final police report before they cut you a check for the stolen bike. so, give it some time but in the meantime, maybe you can see what they have around there for used bikes that the insurance check might pay for.

yeah, it's just wishful thinking for the most part. why do cops have to be such a dick when it comes to bikers? i called the police department to check out whether the bike they recovered could possibly be mine, but they just gave me the runaround.

So it's been over a week, and as I suspected my 6 is probably in parts being auctioned off on e-bay.

Anyways, I'm not really sure what to do now. I still want another R6 but I don't know if I should just wait and get a new '05 or just try and get a deal on an '04?

I hear that the '05 might be redesigned? Is this true?
