Tried the cam sensor - no luck

I know exactly what's your problem.

You "routed" the ignition wire harness from the wrong (left) side, to the coils. That's why it's firing off sync. The Harness MUST be routed on the right side where your timing chain, Camsprockets are and then first connector go's to Cylinder Nr4 Coil and so on.

Tadaaa! Problem solved.

I am right, for sure.

Working over 20 years on everything that has 2 wheels from Aprilia to Yamaha and i remember more than 10 years ago we had this on 2 or 3 customer's bikes. There's no other manufacturer where this is possible, but Yamaha made it to their R1, R6, FZ1, FZ6 etc.........

Just rerouted the harness to the correct side and it started first go. Thank you Schongefont!

Im a quiet reader of this Forum, just for fun so many years. The reason why i created an account to answer and help you was the fact that months ago you posted a Pic from your Bike and i like the design very much.....

Then yesterday I read the mechanical-help section and looked at this thread with your little Profile Pic and I was like "Hey that's the guy with the nice looking bike...... He deserves help"

Well you saved my sanity and I thank you. I was about to change the entire harness and I'm so annoyed with myself for not realizing this. The irony of this is that TWO Yamaha technicians owned this bike before me and neither of them could figure it out! (In fact, one of them would have been the person who routed it incorrectly in the first place) I'm just so glad we (by we, I mean YOU) figured it out. Let me tell you that the scene in my garage yesterday morning involved a LOT of high fives between myself and my son...
