Just picked up a used 2013 yfr6 and noticed a significant amount of rust on the chain. Best recommendation for a replacement? X-ring or O-ring and with or without master link? New to chain driven bikes. Thanks!

All chains have master links. They are either clip on, press on, or EK has a screw on (but I believe you have to buy it separately). Press on is the best (but you need to buy a chain press tool... probably around $30), the EK screw type is a very close second (doesn’t require special tools, but as I mentioned you do have to purchase the link separately to match the chain). I wouldn’t ever recommend a clip on for these bikes.

As far as chain brands, these are the ones I would recommend. I rate them in the following order from highest quality first:
1. Regina
2. DID
3. RK
4. EK

Stick with any of those brands in a heavy duty O-ring and you’ll be good. (X-ring, is also an o-ring)
