Hello guys

I have a question, Is it bad if I dont use the clutch when I shift or down shift?
I have a yamaha r6 2007, thank you in advance btw I have done it for a few months now with no problems, but I just want to know if I'm hurting my bike

i would use it for downshifting .. but upshifting ? use the clutch when the time calls for it. Like going slowly in a corner and short shifting if your not sure of the gear your in, or the road surface. (short shifting is shifting up well before peak power).
Upshifting at full throttle and high rpm wont' be possible without a quick shifter, but you CAN just roll off the gas slightly and upshift without the clutch.. zero problem, in fact it may be easier on the clutch and the engine if done right. ( ya need to practice. )

i should mention my comment above is aimed more at the track day rider/racer (sorry, hard for me to put a "Street hat" on when it comes to posting).
Practice clutchless upshifts on the street, but begin on roads that nobody is on.. get the hang of it there so you are comfortable in traffic. But using the clutch all the time in low rpm city driving isn't a bad idea. ON track, you know what rpm you are gonna shift at all the time, the trans slides into the next gear easily with a light roll off of the gas (or full throttle if you have a qs).. but around town it's always different. When you get on the open stretch of road, it makes more sense to not use the clutch for upshifts.. where you will make a series of gear changes at nearly the same rpm .

Only use the clutch for the launch and downshifting IMO, anything else and your using the clutch too much. Even on the street. Actually on the street you can get away with not even using the clutch when downshifting if you're not braking too hard, just take the load off the engine, which naturally happens when you release the throttle.

Really though, any time you release the throttle, the load comes off the transmission and it will up shift or down shift just fine depending on if you're slowing or accelerating.

unless the "load" is then transferred to this little thing called "engine braking". usually happens right after releasing the throttle...
