I have an 04 and yeah whenever i first start it up regardless of what the temperature is outside, it idles high....that is until the Lo ready for the bike temp. goes away.....as soon as it starts reading an actuall temp. then the idle drops back down(from about 800 to 200.

I wait til I dont see Lo anymore.
that's what the dealer told me to do when I bought my 04, also no rev'ing until it reads a #.

If it is really cold out, as soon as you start rev'ing it will cycle more of the cold water around and it will cool the temp and start re-reading Lo.
