sup guys, well my bike seems a bit weird now. its a 2000 and i now got a couple of questions:

1. i'm getting weird milage, not what i should be getting, something in the range of about 70-85 miles, sometimes i get 110 or so. all are surface or local streets. my friend with the exact bike with a full d&d exhaust gets about 150-160 miles, with the same riding (we mostly ride together). seems odd i know i should be getting a lot more miles to the tank or atleast till the light comes on. i usually ride at about 4K rpm on a constant bases.

2. after i start my bike and ride for awhile, come out of the mall (1 hr. later) my bike seems like it is idling weird, like it is warming up all over again at 170 degrees, in fact today, it even stalled on me, but after i ride it, everything goes back to normal.
the guy i bought it from said he already did the 8K tune up should i do it again to be sure? how much would it cost?

check your air filter and make sure it is clean.
check your spark plugs and reference the tip to a guide to see what condition the engine is at (rich/lean bla bla bla).

drag race your buddy from like 3k rpm in 3rd to redline and make sure both bikes pull similar. if your buddies bike smokes you i'd take it to someone knowledgeable to have them tune it up. if it runs with your buddies bike i'm clueless...

if previous owner took it someplace to get it tuned up don't take it back to the same place b/c they obviously didn't do a good job. do some research and find a service dept. with a good reputation and have them look at it.


it's hard to imagine you getting 1/2 the mileage of your buddy. something is definitely jacked...

you don't weigh 400lbs do you?

I recently got my bad coils (03 recall) replaced about a month ago.

I had an estimate at that time for an 8k tune up for $200+ that is minus the oil change (did that myself).
