This is probably a dumb question, but i'm VERY VERY new to motorcycles...well.. there inner workings.

...I got a pretty decent scrape on my crankcase (left side) and was going to replace it. If i just remove the crankcase cover do i have to drain the oil out of the engine? - is there oil directly behind the crankcase cover? I am planning on just replacing the cover.

If not, i'm just going to spray it with high-temp paint.

there is defiantly oil in the crankcase...make sure you drain your oil first.
do what i did, and use a sharpe marker to cover it up :)

good boy, make sure the filter is on tight...you wouldn't want to go down on your own oil
