Obviously its never a nice feeling to injure something like that.. but if you couldn't of done anything to avoid it apart from crash then it is what it is.. some animals are just not road wise.. to get hit by like the most narrow vehicle on the road must mean it was a bit retarded in the first place and it was only a matter of time til it got hit by a car.. What can I say, I'm a dog lover, my doberman back home hates cats.. Glad you came out ok..
Dead cat
I just ran a cat over. It was dark and wet. I was hard under brakes slowing for a corner and doing about 50kms when the cat just ran straight at me on a 45 degree angle. I didn't have time to maneuver or react other than to keep the brakes nailed and went over it with both tyres.
I locked the back up straight away and pulled over, went back and the poor thing was in a really bad way. Blood and hair everywhere. I found a workman nearby and we picked it up with a blanket. He said he would take it to a vet, but by the time he left (after we knocked on a few doors) the cat was not breathing properly and was not moving at all.
I don't know how I feel right now. I feel bad for the cat, I can't believe I didn't come off and didn't know what else to do. I just needed to share this with someone who may understand (cause the wife doesn't). I know there are those out there who will go 'well that's one less cat we have to worry about hitting' and that's cool and I understand that, but I just killed a living thing and rode out of it the other side unscathed. Luck or skill?? Who knows...

If some cat came and almost took me down, i would be pissed off. I would just drive off and wouldnt have stopped at all.

I know how you feel though...I killed a baby rabbit with my lawn mower. Didn't see the nest...just mowing the yard. When I came back for the next pass, I saw the baby rabbit that I killed...my neighbors call me Elmer Fudd now...

Even though it was a cat i would still feel bad too. But it wasnt really your fault, the cat ran at you. This stuff happens from time to time but atleast you cared enough to stop and try to help it.
I hit a cat in my car once when i was like 17, i had just left school and i had 3 of my friends in the car with me and we were just gonna cruise on some backroads. I had just started down this road and saw a cat up ahead on the side of the road, but it wasn't even looking, so i figured it would just stand there; well at the last second it jumped out, and my tires never hit it, the thing hit my bumper and rolled at about 500rpm for a second and then just laid there. I felt kindof bad but all my friends busted out laughing and wouldn't shut up. These things happen :sing

Ouch, too bad about the cat that does suck. +1 to whoever said that most animals are not smart roadwise. There is a large population of wild rabbits in my neighborhood and I encounter them nightly on the road. They run back and forth in front of my headlights, never quite making it off the road, so I just take it slow so the little kids on the street don't wake up to see Bugs Bunny flattened on the road.
