After putting a few mods on the bike I have some deceleration popping . I have a full akra system, K&N air filter, and a TFI unit so I don't run too lean. So my question here is: Is decelleration popping bad for the bike?

I was told I can fix it by removing the AIS, which I am well and prepared to do, but I would rather leave it in just because.

Help a brotha out if you know the answer :D

you can remove the ais system easier than most people believe. In the yec race kit booklet it simply states that it can either be disconected and both the injection tube plug and the inlet on the air box , or by just simply putting in the block off plates. You can remove it and it will absolutley not hurt the engine in any way. All it does is add fresh air into the exhaust to fake a smog detection system into believing the bike is running cleaner. Removing it or plugging it will do 2 things. It will change the idle of the bike a little. You will have to turn up the idle with the adjuster. The other thing it will do is reduce a great level of decel poping. It also seems to smooth out the bike all together but this could be in my head. I removed mine by taking out the entire solenoid unit and simply plugging the inlets on the valve cover and on the air box. The bike will always pop a little on decel but it will be night and day difference between a lean running bike and a properly tuned one.

i see that you live in california and won't removing the AIS keep you from passing emissions? I ask because i would love to do this to my bike but am going to be moving to arizona where i've heard i have to pass emissions.

I'm running the same mods as you except I have the BMC filter and a PCIII instead of the TFI. How do you know your not running to lean? Have you seen the air/fuel ratio on a dyno? It would be interesting to see what it's showing. I have never had any popping on deceleration, but my bike has been mapped at a race shop.
