It is absolutely possible to bend them. In fact the one on my '05 R6 is bent.
Can still force the bodywork/windshield to fit, but it's not even side-to-side.

fairing stay misaligned?
I have a 2015 R6 and when I look at the bike straight on when sitting on the bike, the right side of the fairing stay where it holds the windscreen and mirror is a little lower than the left side, it’s almost as if it’s bent. Is it possible to bend them slightly? If not is there anything I can do to re align it? I know the previous owner had dropped it on its side as the right handlebar is ever so slightly bent. Is it possible it caused the stay to bend as well?
