You got it right. 1st is all the way down, half a click up is nuetral, then 2, 3 , 4, 5, 6.
gearbox woes
hey, i dun know much about riding and i was wondering what is this 1 down 5 up stuff i keep hearing. :?: i think it is the config of the gears is it not. first gear being at the bottom above it is neutral and then second and then third and so on???

thanks dude, you say half a click is neutral?? so if you in first and you just fully bang it up you'll go into second???
If you are sitting still and you pull it up from first, you will probably hit neutral. But once you are moving and you pull up it will go into second gear. The transmissions on these bikes do not shift into other gears very well when the bike is not moving forward. It will take a day or two to get the feel, then it is second nature to you.
