I guess I am failing to see what it is you are trying to accomplish. I am not sure what you mean by "I think that's the problem that I think is going on, I feel like there isn't enough breathing room there"
Do you want more power in the lower RPM??? If this is the case, you bought the wrong bike. The R6 doesn't start making power until about 8-9k RPM. If you want it to feel like you have more power in the lower RPM, then you will want to LOWER the gearing. That will be adding teeth to the rear, or dropping in the front.
If you want the bike to be going faster for a given RPM, then you want your gearing taller. So add a tooth up front, or drop a few in back. I think this is a BAD idea on the R6 as you will be giving up some accelleration, and if you run the RPM too low... you will be lugging the engine down. Not a good thing on a low torque engine that is DESIGNED to rev high.
Stick with the stock gearing for a while. Once you are through your break-in, THEN see if you want to change the gearing. Once you get the revs over 8k, the R6 comes alive. Below that, the power is under-whelming.
