I know there is only about a million posts about the whole smog pump removal...but have one quick question. Instead of forking out the 35 bucks for these

Thought maybe I could plug up,cap off, however you want to phrase it, the two hose ends coming out of the top like here (whats circled in red), photo by xjl.

Is there any reason that this would not work? Providing I plug the hose ends up properly of course. I mean, I don't think theres 20 pounds of vacuum. But I could be wrong.

i just bought the graves...but i read on here that someone used the original plates but used JB WELD to fill the part where the hose attaches to it...i guess it worked for him!!

that would work just fine. most people just shell out the $30 so you can remove the ais valve (not a pump) completely. just dont forget to plug/seal the airbox hose barb as well. Thats what i did for about a month while i had some plates made. Theres a tutorial floating around that plugs the stock plates with JB-Weld (cheaper route).
