I'm driving tomorrow to Tulsa Oklahoma from Dallas, TX to pick up my new 07 R6. I just bought a truck a week ago and its my first truck and will also be my first time hauling something in the back. I bought tie downs but I'm just curious if there is anything in particular I should know about loading, strapping hauling, and unloading a bike in the truck.

The truck is a 99 Ford ranger. 4 cyclinder, but I'm sure it'll do just fine hauling just a bike.

buy some canyon dancers to tie down the bike they seem to work the best. do you have a ramp to load it on the truck? I would also have someone there to help u load the bike on the truck.

Definately have some help. Use the brakes and GO SLOW. Find a spot to park the front tires higher than the rear ones...make it easier to load!

Strap it tight, compress the forks.

You should be fine I haul my bike around in my 97 tacoma its a 4 banger. Just make sure when using the tie downs you dont hurt the plastics, also load it center, not in a corner. Do you have 4 tie down places on the bed?

If it is a dealership, let one of them load it for you unless you are an experienced rider. Buy one of the 'bar ties' (Dont know there real name) they work very well. I only use the bar ties with two straps. Drove two hours home that way even on dirt roards.

I'll have my dad along with me. I do have 4 bed hooks. In going to have to pick it up to get it out of the truck. It is a small truck so at least its fairly low. Guess I'll back up to a curb to make it less of a distance to lower.

It's not hard to do. Make sure you use ratchet tie downs at least for the front. The cam buckle tie downs are ok for the rear. Be careful walking the bike up the ramp. Take your time and have someone help you until you have done it many times. Back the truck down a small ditch to lower the center of gravity.

You've probably already picked your bike up by now, but if you're planning on hauling it a lot these things are a must. http://bikersfriend.com/pages/stand.htm
in the truck i use two straps and with the e-tracks in the trailer i strap the bikes down with one strap over the seat. the stands are awesome for hauling bikes.
Yup just got home 10 minutes ago, 0 miles when i got her... its a nice feeling.

Time to go ride some more (i came home to shower ) All went well.

Thanks for showing me that... I was planning on buying one and bolting it into the bed of the truck. I also have a supermoto and plan to haul it or the R6 to the track or on trips so this will be great.
