Headlight hack?

1217 Views 7 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  freek589
I have been doing a little research on converting my highbeam to a low beam. The dealers tell me the actual lamps are the same part number. The only two things that i can think of that makes the high beam is either the angle at which the headlamp points or the voltage applied to the bulb. Anyone know which or better yet does anyone have a hack?

Thanks in Advance

do you have an 03 and trying to make both be on all of the time? you could always turn the high beams on then adjust the reflectors so it points down so far that it is just like having your low beams on. this would make it so your real low beams are way to low though.
I heard its not worth keeping your highbeams on because you can blow a fuse or overheat something
I only ride with my highs on, on my '03 and if someone flashes, then I drop em down but then they go right back up. Not had a problem with overheating or any fuse issues.

If i'm not mistaken there is a cover that only alows the low beam to produce a certain amount of light. That is why you have the distinct horizontal line when only the low beam is on. I know this is how my g35 is because the low and high beams are the same bulbs. when you turn your highs on there is a motor that flips the "eye lid" type covers up and your brights are on.
