i know that i should always take my helmet with me when i get off my bike, but sometimes i just want to leave it with my bike. Does anyone know of a device that would keep my helmet locked to my bike and not just hanging on the handle bars or the seat? Something that would make it a little harder to steal.

a chain/lock? put a good alarm on the bike and it should go off if anyone touches the helmet/bike

a little combination lock like for bicycles, run it through your rear pegs or anywhere else and through the visor hole. It will prevent it from being stolen unless someone is specifically targeting you and has ball cutters handy.

all the helmet locks that i know of use the D-rings to lock it. all you have to do is cut the chin strap to steal the helmet.
um..................... if you cut the chin strap then the helmet basically becomes a show piece, its a pain to replace the chinstraps if not damn near impossible, most thieves dont want to work on something they steal...............thats why they steal it

Does anyone else think it is ironic that anyone who is dumb enough to steal a helmet would be smart enough to wear it.

Or even more ironic. If you are too poor to buy a helmet why would you have a bike?

Maybe it's worth the trouble for someone who buys your 400 buck Shoei for 60 bucks ;)

Also, I doubt a thief really cares about strapping it.

I would just take the helmet w/you, you never know what someone might do. I had a friend who left his helmet on the bike and when he came back there was some gum stuck in the liner.

I ride in the city and so you have to lock your helmet to your bike. I never carry my helmet with me anymore because in the city there is no way I can lug it around. I use the on gaurd Terrier Coil Lock. It works great and is tough to break, unless someone is carrying a rambo knife. In that case they would probably rob you anyway so they can have the helmet.

heres a link to it on the ON Gaurd site:

Its the one in the middle.

I think you can find them anywhere, most dealers or bike shops carry this brand.
