Hello all

I have sinking feeling right now...hopefully Im wrong.

2003 R6

Wanted to check valve clearances and as part of the process removed oil pump cover...the dowel/pin stayed with the cover.

This is about 1 inch long.

Was the dowel holding the chain guide to the block?

If not, I cannot get the the dowel back onto the block side, its almost like the chain guide "moved" ever so slightly

This is not my picture but that the dowel in question. Is it supposed to go through the chain guide?

The exhaust side chain tensioner/guide holds it in place pretty tight so you'll be okay unless you turned it over by starter. With the tensioner removed, it's fairly easy to find the hole and realign the dowel without taking anything else part. All said and done, SLOWLY turn by hand (clockwise only) and check your timing marks.
