I'm currently looking into a used 2002 R6 w/ around 5k miles. The bike is pretty much like new and I see/feel nothing wrong w/ it. The seller is asking around 6500 which i assume is too steep. NADA average is 6200 and low is 4700. So far I've thrown out 6k on the table, could I/should I go lower? Forgot to mention a Shoei and integrator kit are included.

I would think that $6k is a little steep considering you can get a used '03 for around $6500. With all the new liter bikes coming out this year, there will be a glut of nice 600's from people chasing the latest and greatest.

Modifications don't really contribute to the value of the bike. If they happen to be something you like, great... but a majority of that stuff is very personal.

Used helmets are just bad news. First of all, it has to fit you. Second, if the thing has been dropped or abused you may not be able to tell just by looking at it. You will want to take the liner out and look for small cracks in the painted foam. Even than, I would not trust a used helmet without sending it back to the manufacturer to be inspected.

6000 is too much but unfortunately,, once a number has been thrown out on the table it may be difficult to remove int for a new "lower" number

I wouldnt pay over 5400

And DO take the helmet with the deal but use it only to sit on while you are cleaning your new bike!

i wouldnt care about the used helmet that gets thrown in with the bike. i wouldnt want to wear it after someone else funked it up. you wouldnt take his undies also, right? buy yourself a new helmet. if he throws the shoei helmet in keep it for future passengers. as for the price on the bike i wouldnt go higher than $5500. for me a used '03 would be worth the $1000 more.
