hi guys

as it says im new on here and wanted to say hi.

i was asked to join the site and post some info and the 2003 R6 that im playing with at the moment

so here go's

i just picked a yamaha R6 2003 in blue that had been down the road
paid £400 and got the bike new tyres solo seat cowl and rear stand
all the fairings are good apart from the top fairing and lhs mid fairing

the bike has sat in the garage for the last 4years so before i could start doing anything ive had the rip it apart

1st ive removed all the plastics and binned the top fairing as it was be on repair.
the rest of the plastics are boxed and ready for ebay.

ive stripped down the carbs cleaned the and rebuilt then
replaced old battery with a new one that works
replaced the old plugs with race ones
replace the old air filter with a pipercross race filter
plus oil and oil filter change just for the hell of it.

plans

2009 MotoGP rep

or

changing the blue and green to a metallic pearl orange
black will be a metallic pearl black
and the white will be a pearl white
and no fiat logo.

im going to be fitting
2008 R6 race fairings and seat unit
2006 R1 USD front forks rebuilt with maxton 25mm internals
2006 R1 clip-ons
2006 R1 gold spot calipers
2006 R1 front fender
goodridge s/s brake lines
320mm EBC race discs
MotoGP race can
full R&G bobbins
race rearsets
pclll

here is the bike stripped down and waiting for part to turn up

it had only taken me an hour to change the front end

but when i bolted it up i could only get one bolt on not two

when i looked into it the shaft on the R1 was shorter then the R6

so i dropped of the R6 lower yoke to have the shaft pressed out and im going down tomorrow to have the R1 shaft removed and have the R6 shaft repressed into the R1 lower yoke.

i have monted up the clip-ons and the clutch and the brembo master and calipers

i have some CRG leavers on there way to me and also a set of 2006 R1 wheels as i need the 320mm discs.

so what do you need to fit a 2004 to 2006 R1 front end onto a 2003 2004 r6

04 06 R1 USD forks
04 06 R1 clip-ons
04 06 R1 lower yoke
04 06 R1 top yoke
04 06 R1 calipers brake lines and master
04 06 R1 front fender
04 06 R1 320mm disc's
04 06 R1 front spindle
2003 R6 main shaft repressed into the R1 lower yoke.

you can use to 2003 front wheel as the 2003 to 2005 R6 and 2004 to 2008 R1 front wheels are the same its just the disc's that change.

you will need to drill out the snap off bolts to from the ignition from the 2003 r6 top yoke.

04 to 06 R1 calipers fitted to the 2003 R6

04 to 06 R1 top yoke will be here tomorrow along with the 320mm R1 brake discs

hoping it's just a case of replace the discs and mount the top yoke and the front end is complete apart from the front fender and the s/s brake line.

heres hoping

Welcome... and you're making some good progress. Keep the pics coming. I have an 04 and your project is giving me some ideas about painting my fairings. Love the look of the race replicas especially the XBOX one.
