HID kit

I'm thinking about purchasing an HID kit for my 07 r6. I read a couple of how to's on the subject, and I'm curious as to if there is a kit available that does not require me to disassemble the headlight assembly. I'll take any and all input available. thanks guys

None of them require you to do that...
For the '07 R6 they are pretty simple. The only thing that is hard is where you will be mounting your ballast box. It took me about an 1 hour cause I had a hard time figuring where I wanted to mount my ballast box. I bought on that has the large ballast box, but if you get the slim ballast box you will find some pretty good places to mount them. GL

where did you purchase yours? and how hot did you go?

If you have the extra money def get the slim balasts! But its not necessary to do so. The people that modify the stock housing are either making both sides act as a low beam, or puting dual projectors on each side. Otherwise the conversion kits are plug and play. Plug stock wires into the ballast, ballast into the new bulb. The hard part is finding where to mount the ballasts. I have to say HIDs are totaly worth it for the look and the output with light!!!

Also, watch different companies "K" rating. The same numbers may be different colors. I have 10000K in my 04 R6 and they are not as blue as the pic in the link. I have 12000K in my car and they are as dark as that showed. I bought probably 5 or so kits so far this year and they are all generally the same. I have an Omni X model in 2 cars, and the rest were off ebay. I would suggest Ebay because they are cheapest. And personally one of my Ebay kits was the best for the car. When the amp draws current it dims the lights sometimes (dont have a cap yet) but with the HID's it doesnt dim at all...

This is with only 1 HID in low socket (I cant get a picture of both it blurs out the camera).

I got the normal size ballasts. As mentioned mounting them is the most difficult. I eventually got both of them under the side panels hidden. Took a lot of adjusting because the forks kept hitting the boxes when turned fully to the right or fully to the left. After several zip tie trial and error runs and a few strips of velcro I got those bitches on. The lights are sexy too. I'm waiting for my auxiliary light so it matches the 6000K color. It stands out like a sore thumb otherwise. I will post pics when it gets pretty. :)

But definitely get the slim ballasts if you have the extra money. I got my kit for $70 shipped and I haven't seen anything cheaper anywhere online. You need to make sure your bulbs are size H7.

HIDgate on eBay is where I got mine.
I bought the 10K and it looks similar to MotoAce at nite. But during the day it looks white with a hint of blue. Here is a link where I mounted them.

And I have had it in the same place for a year now and it is still working great.
thanks guys for all the replies. that helped out ALOT. now I wonder what I should go with? 8 or 10?
also, if i go with this kit http://www.xenonlink.com/product_info.php?products_id=119{2}6 but with the 8000K, I will still have one low beam and one high beam, correct?
do i want the auto or motorcycle kit on xenonlink.com . i mean I see the obvious difference, but I want both lights (hi- and low beam to be HID) im assuming this means get the auto kit?
FYI, the lower the better... 10k or less... Blue is at the END of the human visible light spectrum. Amber lights give better contrast and motion detection as they are very much near the center of the visible spectrum.

Now, granted, the HIDs look sick and they output much greater than Halogen or Xenon filament. So the compromise of low temp HID makes for the best overall visibility.

Also, it only does low beam. but depends on how bright, I don't use highs much anyway...

Also, think about replacement bulbs if u order from ebay.
I dont kno wwhat the difference with the Auto or motorcycle kit is. They are usually the same. Just check to make sure the Bulb size is correct (H7 I believe) The only difference that I usually see is sometimes the motorcycle kit comes with only 1 ballast and 1 bulb due to some bikes only needing 1. Another difference is the motorcycle kit could be slim ballasts where as the Auto kit is the full size. From the looks of where you are getting the kits get auto because it looks like it comes with 2 of everything (1 low, 1 high, meaning 2 ballasts, 2 bulbs) I would say use ebay, its a lot cheaper.

Just make sure they send the slim ballasts!

If you do the kit it will be the same as stock. 1 low 1 high. They are the same bulbs just different angles.

For temp, This is all preference. I wanted to be different so I went for the 10000K. The light output is amazing. Most people do the 6000K. The 8000-10000K are about the same there isnt too much difference. The difference comes from 10000-12000K There is a dirastic blue change. 12000K (I put in my car) is hard to see at night but looks cool. I had 8000K in my car and they didnt thrill me, 10000 looked the same at night just a little more tinted. I suggest the 10000K, but a lot of people will disagree.

so im thinking I will go with the 8000k. if i want the 6000k can i swap out the bulbs and be done with it? and if i wanted a whiter bulb, i would go with the 6000k correct?
Amber is on the low side (6000) white is in the middle (8-12) and blue/violet is at the top end (18k)
Actually numbers have Changed....

4300 - Yellow/ Gold
6000 - Hyper White (Pure White)
8000 - Aqua (White with a tiny tint of Blue)
10000 - Vibrant Blue (Baby Blue)
12000 - Deepest Blue (Yamaha blue/ blue with a hint of purple)
15000 - Purple
30000 - Pink

There are other novelty colors that get all screwed up in the ratings... These include - Red, Green, Dark Blue (more than the 12000K) etc...

alright, well I THINK I am still going to go with the 8k. another question I was wondering about was I did a little research on my girlfriends car it uses 2 different bulbs for the high and low beam (2007 honda civic coupe). how would I do an HID kit with soemthing like this?
You just need 2 bulbs/ballasts total, one for low side and one for high side
You need the H7 Kit, trust me that will put out much light
