Had an interesting experience tonight. We had a good size ride for awhile (about 40 bikes). After stopping at a gas station, about half of us took off to head back home. We took US-1 to a little side road, and took that almost to the highway. I say almost because right before we got to it, we got pulled over. The speed limit on that road is 25mph, and we might have been going 35. So we stopped at a stop sign, and just as we took off we see two cars pull out ahead of us, then the ol' blue & red started flashing. And we hear over the loudspeaker, "turn off your bikes and get off." Naturally, we complied. They said they had complaints of bikes running at 90mph (definitely not us), and they ran everyones' license. No one had any outstanding warrants or anything, so we got no tickets.
But the absolutely best part of the night was that from there we got a police escort back to where we were going (about 3 miles away). So we had two cars in front, and one in back, and at that point about 12 bikes. Imagine coming up to an intersection, seeing a cop pull up with lights on and blocking your path, and then seeing 12 bikes ride by! That part was admittedly pretty sweet.
