Hello all,

when installing a piston into my motor one of my rings did not quite make it in correctly. This ring bent and scratched down and then across on the cylinder wall.

Any thoughts on this situation?

Thank you.

honestly probably not a big deal. in fact there is a level of allowable porosity holes manufactures allow in the cylinders. the ring will not snag on it. they don't snag on the ports of 2 stroke engines they wont snag on that. it's not that desirable but it's probably not even a issue that will cause problems.

this might make you feel better, (these guys do work for major race teams in moto america) you can always reach out to these guys for their professional advice on this.

Very interesting. Seems to be a good explanation. Never noticed any pits before in any of the cylinder walls I've seen. But the damage on that wall appears to be in the form of a longish horizontal gouge.
