I use the rear seat and shove it between the upper triple and the tank.

I dunno, I prefer a lighter bike. Sure the tank support is only a pound, but its just something extra to break. Put a bunji cord through the tank holes and around the rear seat latch.... theres a million ways to hold it up, or it takes 5 minutes to remove it completely.
