It can be done right. I used aerosol for the base and pearl on my tank, then sprayed the epoxy clear with an HVLP. It was cheaper than buying the pints of base and pearl. But even using a pure aerosol system can come out good....it just takes a lot of wet sanding and buffing to get it right. It would not be my preferred method.
And do you think that purple blue can be matched for $54? I doubt it, but maybe. Since my yellow was a base/pearl/clear, I found that having it matched would have cost twice what I paid at colorrite.
