After hitting the "Submit" button and you get the browser message that the page can't be displayed, the post was actually made (yes, I know it's hard to believe). When this happens, immediately hit the back button and re-submit that post. Now, view your post and you should have two there.

On another note:

If you do not wish to have your double post, simply hit the DELETE area in the upper right-hand of your last post OR just go through the trouble of actually re-editing your post to simply say "double post" or "delete me", this will let someone know (who has that post deleting power) to delete your double post, because I'm sure they love to do it.

the problem is, that if you get a double post and delete the second one, then the first post never makes it up to the top of the current thread list on the front page because it never "recognizes" the first post still. also, sometimes deleting your own posts can have funky results and it deletes the thread of makes it "disappear" for a bit until it is recovered.
