Here's another newbie question! I'm about to change out my old chain for a new stock one. My question is how do I connect the master link together? I looked it up in my manual but it says nothing about the master link. I know how to assemble it together, but do you need to smash the ends with a hammer, like a rivet? Or do you need some sort of special crimping tool? Thanks!

yes there is some sort of tool. you can find them on ebay or at your local hardware store.

easier way is to use a clip-type master link.

thats what i use and no problems yet...

ya theres a tool. u should be able to just take it to your local moto shop and have them put the master link on for ya for a buck or two.

If you're going to buy a chain breaker/riveter, get the Motion Pro.

JCWhitney has them for $78

i used various clamps and gadgets until i finally constructed my own tool to put it on.. next time i will go buy a tool.... :roll:
