....Well sort of.I decided i would put take the extra headphones i had stored in my drawer & use them for something. This is all i could think of.I started by cutting a small slot in the back of the helmets padding by the ear.I then inserted the ear piece into the slot so it would end up just behind the cloth & not the behind the foam.I stiched up the slot, ran the wire to the back of the helmet, cut it a little longer than needed.I then cut a small hole in the helmets rubber gasket that run along the bottom at the back.I bought a small 3.5mm jack with a threaded end.Inserted the jack thru the hole & installed/tightend the supplied nut.I also purchased a cable with male plugs at each end. This way i can plug the ends into my Ipod & jack.In real life ill run the cable under my shirt though.Any questions/comments....fire away.

Alot of guys are gonna tell you riding with an ipod is a dumb idea. But, I do if I m heading up to my aunts home. Its like 80 miles on the turnpike one way and usally theres little to none traffic cause she lives in the middle of noway. Also I keep it down to where I could hear a horn etc. I enjoy it alot. God I want summer here

take the red pill!!! lol

can you hear it good? I listen to mine every once and a while, but it seems unless the buds are in my ears I cant hear sqaut then it just becomes annoying plus the damn things always get moved around when i put my helmet on so i gave up on it and just listen to the symphony of machined metal playing between my legs

Looks good. clean design.

I usually listen to my ipod shuffle the first generation. I hang it around my neck with the lanyard. Its easy to listen too. I keep the volume low enough so I can hear the music and the traffic around me.

Keep the ideas/creations coming!

Thats funny,my newphew says i look like neo(keanu) from matrix with my full length leather trench coat & my buzz cut.Anyway, i dont think its any more a dumb idea than driving with the stereo blasting in your car.I never drive/ride with the vloume loud enough to drown out traffic, horns, etc.Since the ear buds are'nt "in" my ear anymore.Like they were when i used them out of the helmet. The sound doesnt block out the road/traffic noise even with the volume turned up high. The ear buds are in the padding so they dont move around easy, but i can position them right by my ear. They are easier to hear on my R6 than on my D6(its much louder), but i can hear the music well enough.

I have been riding with my helmet set up like this for the last several months.

I got tired of having to connect/disconnect the headphones from the helmet and running the cable inside my jacket that I just mounted the iPod directly in the helmet. Best part is it's not even noticeable. Now I just turn on the iPod, set the playlist, put on the helmet and ride!:toocool:

Here is a shot of the headphones I had lying around (found) that I mounted inside the helmet.

sweet set up man..i bought a pair of helmet speakers that sits on the speaker cavitiy built into my helmet. it works well with my ipod and you can still hear things around you..
Is the sound pretty good with the helmet speakers? I've been thinking about putting some inside my helmet for my MP3 player. I've seen several types on eBay. They are about what you have described.

I bought a pair of the helmet speakers on ebay for around $20 and was not overly thrilled with them. they are nice at stop lights and whatnot but when your actually on the throttle it's hard to hear...especially if your bike is loud.

I agree that if you have a loud exhaust they cannot be heard well. I cruise on the back roads and not a whole lot in traffic so the music is just loud enough for me to make out or sing with when i ride lol. When i ride with friends I dont bother with them. I also dont like the feeling of the ipod headphones in my ears just not feeling the comfort there.... I tried a few other headphones but this was the best solution for me. If you prefer music at full blast and loud I would invest in something like this.

mine was half the price but just enough for me.

again it's just a matter of personal preference. I know many riders love the ipod earbuds or similar earbuds..i guess i just have funky ears..lol

I'd hate to see what kind of impact that i-pod's gonna have on your head if you ever go down.

My Ipod is too bulky for this type of install.Plus i would'nt be able to pause the music or adjust the volume.I just run the cable inside my shirt & either put the Ipod inside one of my pockets(pants or jacket) or clip it to my pants. With the speakers in the padding i dont feel them agaisnt my ear, unless i think about it.Plus i can hear everything(traffic, road noise, wind, exhaust, sirens, etc) with the volume turn all the way up.The speakers are about 1/4 inch from my ears.So traffic is not blocked out.
