Mark horizontal before removing for drilling.
Mark out the led positions.
Use a drill press + clamp.
Use pilot hole.
Drill out the holes.
Put in the LEDs. For 2 of the holes the lip had to be removed from LED base.
5 x 2volt Orange Leds 5000 MCD 30 degree spread ( EBay ) in series ( big leg to little leg ) soldered together. Do not short to peg
27 ohm 1/2 watt resistor in series. ( radio shack )
1mm wire long enough to get back to Indicators. to each end.
Test LEDs on the Battery.
If they work fill back of peg with Glue or Silastic.
Remount and run wires to under pillion.
Remove old indicators and pull wires back into trunk.
Take globe from old indicators and solder short wires to them.
Tape them up with black electrical tape.
Turn on indicator and take peg LED wires and indicator wires & test polarity. If they dont flash reverse.
When the correct side is flashing add the indicator globe wire and join.
So 3 wires 1 from LEDs 1 from Bike and 1 from globe. Remembering to keep the correct Bike and LED wires together. The globe doesnt matter which.
I use the globe to slow the flash down. A lot cheaper than a flasher relay. I will have to replace it if it blows. You can tell this if the blinkers speeds up.
Be preparaed for all the " **** that looks good" "How did you do that" etc etc.
I have some pics of mine at my house, not here with me now, that show the back side...I used hot glue and made a little "circuit board" behind the peg, so there are no wires seen. Now, if you stick your head back there, and look you can see the wires coming out, but just normally looking, no you can't see any
I just soldered the legs of the LED straight together. Then a 1mm wire from each end. I just left an airgap then after it was all soldered and tested filled the gap with Silastic. Hot glue would do same. Now cant see shit. The black rubber hides it all nicely.
