Hi im looking for a track clostest to NYC. This would be my first time going to the track. What would I need for track day? Like equipment wise..

I know when I took my car to the track I needed a bunch of stuff in order to race.. Like a fire proff jacket (supercharged car). U full face helmet since I did lower the 14sec. I didnt do my research then .

But what will I need for my first Bike track date.? Im looking in to track platics so if I drop it. I dont mess up my plastics..

Thanks everyone By the way I own 07 R6

Closest track is Pocono Speedway, it is a small track great for a first time track day guy. Next closest that is currently open is Summit Point Raceway, which is a much larger track and the closest track that there are races held on. NJ Motorsports Park is supposed to open this spring and is a 500 million dollar development project and should be a fantastic track.

All organizations have different rules, I coach for Team Promotion. TPM has the most days by far in the Mid Atlantic area and is a great organization to belong to. The minimum you need to get on the track is a helmet(we rent everything else). You can rent a suit, but you will want to buy one eventually. I recommend a one piece suit but you can use a two piece suit as long as it zips three quarters of the way around. You need boots and gloves also.

As far as the bike goes you need to tape up the lights and remove/tape your mirrors.

Thats it as far as bike/rider needs. Other then that tools, zip ties, safety wire, duct tape, canopy, water, pressure gauge, spares, fuel, etc.

No problem, just a warning, riding the track is very very addictive. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Z-Man, could answer the following:

1. is April 5-6 ok to go to Pocono's (dont want be needing tire studs)?

2. which memebership would you suggest (i got confused due to i have no idea what all the terminology means.... but bsically i am a beginner who never been to a track... i m positive i will come back though at least once this year)

3. is there db limit (or what is it) on the pipe sound at Pocono's track... my bike still has stock one but i cut it so it is a lot louder now.... i am thinking about getting racefit exhaust (these are loud)

thanks a lot for providing this info!

PM me... i am thinking about April 5/6 (sat/sun) or April 13 (sun) due to i cant take time off work.... if not, next track day weekend in the area is on May 4th (might be even better weather-wise)

would be great to get a group together....

Let me know if anyone would like to share the cost of hauling our bikes to/from the track....

1. It has snowed the last two years in a row on the Saturday of April 5-6. I would play it by ear and see how the weather is.

2. If you are planning on only going twice then a silver membership will be more then plenty. If you are going more then five then probably the gold makes sense.

3. Only track I have seen any type of checking is Calabogie and no one failed. Not even my r6 with a graves exhaust on it. (i failed at a race once)
