i daily mine right now @ stock height stretched and it's alright. 1"? you could go more than that and still be alright with a stretch. The thing about a stretch is it actually lifts the rear end because it locates the rear wheel lower which raises the back of your bike. If your front end is lowered go 2" maybe 3" depending on how much you've lowered the front.

I got a 99 r-6. lowered a inch in the 2 inches in the front and 3 in the rear. When i had it extended 10 inch I ended up wearing a hole in the pipes. yeah sucked plus lost all handling. i went back to only 2 inch in the rear and the only difference from before is no wheelies but some awesome rolling burn outs. plus i recovered all handling but maybe 10%

yes the geometry is getting messed up, but what is being messed up is the handling. Sacrifices, take the good with the bad. Stretch & slam= hard launches/ok, stock= not very hard launches/great handling. If you're stretching and/or slamming your bike your not worried about being able to rail the twisties as fast as humanly possible.
