The wire has a socket that plugs onto the tip of the sensor. The PO probably attached the wire to ground because the switch doesn’t work…. If I were to guess
neutral light
i have a 2008 Yamaha R6S. my neutral light stays on even while i’m in gear. i noticed my neutral switch doesn’t have a wire connected to it. i’ve gone through the manual and can’t seem to find where the wire is supposed to plug in. i’ll show pictures if needed.

i know one end plugs into the switch but i have no clue where the other end goes
