I have a 1999 Yamaha R6L and I am in the process of doing the infamous 2nd gear repair. Since this is the oil thread, i figured i would ask everyone here if they know anything about the silvery coating on the inside of the oil pan? Is has completely come off in a few places in the oil pan. Is it still safe to use? i don't feel like shelling out 50$+ for a new(used) one. Thanks everyone. (and yes i took it to a machine shop and had it run through in an acid bath to try an get the rest off already)
