dont like just tightening things up and i think the 31 ft/lbs the maunual recommends for my 07s is way to much torque for the oil pan threads. i plan on using a new crush washer at each oil change. i have a good torque wrench so i figured i use it but set to a lower torque value. i just need some suggestions on what to set it too? thanks

I think Yamaha already gave you a suggestion. My bike has 42,000 mile on it right now.
That's about 14 oil changes, give or take, torqued to 31 ft/lbs every time with no problems. You have to trust Yamaha, they built the bike, right?
