Are you still satisfied with the power of your R6?
Do you find yourself wishing you bought the R1?

I have ridden a 97 FZR600 for about three years, and the guys at the R1 forum think 1000cc's is a big a jump. I am able to use every bit of hp from my FZR and think its time for more power. Do you think the R6 will satisfy this thirst for more power? Or will I regret it only after a year or so and wish I got the R1?

yeah sometimes i think about it. but then i think about the all the money i saved on insurance. i actually same myself almost $2000 a year on insurance. so yes i want an R1 but its not practical for me. besides i know most of us here will never use all of the R6 potential. some of us here are more than satisfied with the power but more so with the handling with this engineering marvel.

I've been riding for 10 years on the street, just started roadracing.

I have spent a lot of time on the FZR-600, and it is one of my all time favorite bikes. Up there with the ZX-7RR. The R6 is a HUGE increase in power, and it handles better than the FZR-400. I think it depends on what sort of riding you do.

If you spend a vast majority of your time in the twisties, get the R6. If you spend your time doing top-speed runs, and stop-light racing... get the R1. Just realize, the R1 will slide the rear tire in turns with just the slightest bit too much throttle. You HAVE to posess a high level of throttle control or eventually she IS gonna buck you off.

God I can't wait :D

before I got my car (323Ci) I didn't understand the whole driving = fun thing. I use to own a 96 Camry and driving was just a chore, a step to get to work. Last winter I found a good deal on a 323Ci cab, and flew out to SF to drive it back.... omg I never imagine driving could be so fun!

So if Bimmers = best handling car and = most fun on 4 wheels...

SHIZZLE R6 = best handling on 2 wheels?!?! 0_0 can't waits!!!!!

There is about 2% of the motorcycle community that is going to ride an R6 beyond the bike's limits. The limiting factor on just about any modern sportbike is you.

With that being said, you need to find a bike that suits your riding "personality." You can't be lazy with a 600 and expect to get a lot of power out of it. Not like a 1000cc twin which pulls from anywhere. What are you using the bike for? How hard do you ride it?

I started off road racing on a 1000cc, and decided that that was way too much bike for the track. First time out on my R6 i turned a faster lap time.

The track record at Willow Springs is 1:19 on a 1000cc. At the toyota 200, rich oliver was turning a 1:21 with a 250cc. Granted two seconds is huge, but so is a 750cc difference.

Find a bike that is right for you....

yep, i thought about it sometime but i love my six more than any 1000cc.
beside most people can't even ride the six the to it's full potential yet. why jump to a 1000. six is fast enough for any street in the world and most of the tracks. i also heard two pros battle out r6 and r1 on the race track. and guess what, six beat the 1000. it's not the size of the bike that counts it's the rider.

:cheers

Alot of companies who are releasing new litre bikes are having their factory team rider take the streetbike for a spin in all the mags. Numerous riders say that streetbikes are way overpowered. Some people will say a 600 is too small. The r6 is more than enough for me. I have never feared riding but i respect my bike everytime i ride. I just want to ride and dream i'm valentino rossi. Not ride like him on public streets.

But when you do grow up you will realize that having a big bike is better. I had my first 6 in 99 and in 01 is when I upgraded. I had to learn how to ride all over again.
Big bike is better? Man, you ride a 929. That's not even a big bike anymore. All the guys I race with are all capable riders and the guy who's at the back always is on a 954, more power than yours. And 3 of the 5 are on 600's.

I could take a 929 off the line anyday!!!

The same sentiment goes for me. The R6 has a lot of power, a lot of power that I havent even used to its' full potential. It really depends on what type of riding you do. i do a lot of commuting, and sometimes having mores horses comes in handy. Then again, the R6 has more than what I need, and I just seem more comfortable with it.

I've rode friends liter bikes, and the power-throttle mixture isn't as comfy as my 6. Yah sure, eventually I'll probably get a liter bike. But,...I'll still have my R6. :jump

Love my six has enough power for me to handle and is forgiving plus the insurance is not killing me. I am still trying to reach it limit but it seems limitless.

I saw a 04 R1 at the dealer today and quite frankly, it was ass ugly. The tank is ugly, the seat/rear fairing area is too wide, and overall it just looks goofy.

It was sitting nest to a 04 gixxer 1000 and the gixxer look much better!

The new R1 looks better in the pics, in person it is just hideous lookin'!!
