painting 2 pieces on my 08 liquid silver

im considering painting the panels where the arrow points. the piece by the tank i would get painted to match the silver or black havnt decided yet. the piece on the side plastic i would be painting is the piece the decal is on only. and that would be painted black. the reason im considering this is im considering having my rims chromed, or powdercoated and getting rid of the pewter/gold color.

so my question is whats everyone think? paint both both? paint the side black tank silver? paint nothing? i like the liquid silver but wouldnt mind a change with the pewter/gold color. let me know what you think.. photoshops more than welcome if any one knows how, i dont :(

Both in silver if you plan on doing them. Black probably won't look right and if you do one and not the other it'll look odd. As for the wheels, they look the same as 06-07 so see if someone wants to swap you for theirs. I like my black ones but I'm sure somebody out there likes the new color. JMO
only thing with the silver, ive been told its near impossible to get it matched good, and yamaha wont give out the code. as far as wheels, i was planning on getting some chrome on the bike. planned on have the factory front rearsets, passenger footpegs, and wheels chromed to start it off. then maybe more as i go along.
I wouldnt chrome stuff out, black would be way sicker... You can always pick up some raven pieces from an 06/07 off ebay for cheap and see if they work. I know the mid pieces are a little different but i think it would still work, and i dont think they changed the tanks.
I don't have photoshop anymore, but I am sure you could get someone to do a couple quick photoshops for you. The glare on the tank in that pic would be tough though.
yeah, ive idk changed my mind against chrome. the original plan was black powder coating. for the rims i was going to do the rim itsself silver, and have the spokes done black. i think black powder coat is the way i intend to go.
In my opinion black powder coat will look sick.. I'm personally not a fan of chrome on sport bikes.

nice bike by the way:toocool:
I would be very interested to see how the bike would look with the side piece painted black. It'll kinda look like the scheme on the '03 which is what I have.

Is the part by the tank a different colour silver?

In terms of the wheels I might be willing to buy them from you as I've been looking for a pair. Let me know...
You have been doing all kinds of work to you bike since you got it...Chrome is a birch to keep clean on a motorcycle, on cars you just have to keep the outside of the rim clean. Maybe a glossy black powder coating rims would look good. If you can work photoshop I have the R6 template(or get it off the forum) and you can change the colors. I wonder how carbon fiber mid and tank would look?

i was also considering carbon fiber, like the chain guard and rear fender and the tank. idk ima wait for powder coat until winter or when im willing to have the bike down for a while.

If the website is session based and the link doesnt work:

homepage -> mototcycle paint -> 08 -> yamaha -> r6

PS:
glad you decided against chrome.
the carbon would add a nice suttle touch i think.. not to sure if you've seen this post

i think the red looks pretty sweet myself.. but everyone has their own opinion :)
I would wait to paint anything on my bike till after my first crash.:D
Ive seen a few guys that have those parts in carbon fiber. That would looks sexy as hell IMO. I would check into it.

wow, just wow, those rims look damn good in that pic. i wonder how itd look with the mid section of the side plastic painted red.

thanks for that link rev-r6.

i like the red, i could possible have the rearsets red also and itd set it off a bit i think. hmmm theres so many options so many different things you can change its hard estimating if itll all flow nicly or clash in the end.
i think it would look sweet if you did the red rims and the carbon side pieces with maybe some carbon on the tank.. rearsets i'd probably go black.. and get some red pazzo's or another type of levers..

the mid fairing red would be to much, rims and rearsets would look sharp.
