Besides exhaust, power commander, air filter etc, what are some other performance mods that don't cost to much, but make a good bit of difference? Thanks.

experiance, suspention getting dialed in by a pro prob run you about 20 to 30 thats the best mod for the dollar imo. a dyno tune if you already have the others, saftey gear ie leathers and boots and tires.

There are none past what you listed that "don't cost too much". The folks at Yamaha have put so much R&D into that engine, it is very hard to squeeze out more power. One way is to take your mentioned mods(exhaust, filter, PCIII) and have a custom tune. Costs between $250-400 but it will extract the most power and smooth out the delivery and throttle response. Power after that can only be had by cracking open the cases and that runs into big bucks. The above mentioned gearing change doesn't actually produce more power, it just puts the power the bike already has into a lower range.

The most effective mod is to improve the nut connecting the clipons to the seat and footpegs. Learning to be a proficient rider is worth more than shiny trinkets. Trackdays aren't necessarily cheap (especially after getting all of the gear required, which is a one-time expense), but they are more worthwhile.
