just got a new back tire and only have about 500 miles on it. well, just got my new front tire in today and went to the store to pick up sand paper to get the "new slickness" off. got back and what da ya know.... screw in the back tire. me and a friend took the screw out and plugged the tire. hadnt gone riding yet b/c we got to get the front put on tomorrow.

how safe or unsafe exactly is that?

Very unsafe. You don't want to risk your safety and the bikes well being because you were to cheap to put a new tire on. Trust me I went through this too and my plug did not hold and the tire went flat on me while riding. It is not a pleasant experience.
