Hi I am looking at buying a Used R6 got 14000 Miles.

Needs new sprocket and chain

Needs new tyres

got scratches on one side

The guy is asking for 5000 $.

That seems a tad high, but reasonable

$200 for chain and sprockets (replace them with a 520 setup) it is easy to do yourself

Miles are kinda high (if you take care of it though, it will give you A LOT more miles)

How bad are the scratches?

How are the tires?

with 14000 miles i'd not recomment buying it unless it is a 2003+; 99-02 i believe had tranmission problems (or something to do with it) around 10k miles so plan on spending money to fix it.

the scratches depending on how bad they are should be a big deal if it is your first bike you can probably plan on putting some on the first 6 months or so. just make sure the alignment and stuff has been checked and ask him how it went down (if it did).

i think over all $5k is good depending on the damage. i'd say $6k and subtract cost of repair and replacements. which should come out around $5k.

this is all assuming it is a 2003 though.

around 7000 Miles. (when he bought it from the 1st owner)

There are some visible scratch lines but they are not bad.

i say if it is a 2003 go for it; 2002 and earlier forget it, unless you can lower the price.

milage is on the highside along with the asking price, $5000. i say look for another one. as for me i seen '03 selling for $6000 with 5000 miles. i wouldnt want to take a chance with a bike with high milage. this is just my opinion though.

The Bike is a 1999 R6.

yeah if you can get the price down then it would be good. $5k is just too much for a 99. although personally i would not do it, but that's me.
