I have a 05 and the stacks are just round rings. I took the old ones out and replaced them with the new ones. They just dont seem as sturdy...I mean theres a little lip for them to sit in those holes but im worried that there going to come loose.
Also, if im buying a $100 filter why is it that I have to cut off the rubber to make it fit???

I thought the same thing. You have to cut the tab that holds the gasket to the main body of the filter. I guess it is for shipping or while they are molding it. If it doesn't fit, make sure you take out the o-ring that is on the air box. The K&N is mean to take the place of the o-ring.

Now what are velocity stacks and how do they help and do I need them? I put in a K&N a while ago and I have a PCIII on the way.

Well I still think its rediculous that for $100 air filter I need to start cutting off thins to make it fit. Bc I cut too much now and there's openings inbetween the filter and airbox...so therefore I'm going bmc

I put in those two things and I def noticed a difference. I only took it around the block but it was def more responsive. I think its more bc of the new filter. I'm still iffy on the velocity stacks and how they sit...just doesn't seem sturdy.

Let us know how it works out for you once you take it out and really get on it. I heard that a filter and stacks combination gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Are you running all 4 velocity stacks or just two outter ones? I hear running only two stacks toward the outside holes in the airbox gives you better performance for street riding. Let us know if you could.

Once I take it for a real run ill def let you guys know. As for taking it around the block, I definitely felt that it was more responsive. Its hard to say if they made a difference because i put them in with the air filter. But the combination of both definitely made some improvements.
Now I'm waiting on the bmc filter. And OH YEA I emailed K&N and gave them a piece of my mind about cutting the filter...Ill let you know what happens.
