I have 3800 miles on my 6. Its time for scheduled maintenance what all does this involve? I went on Yamaha's website and got the maintenance checklist and I have read the owners manual. Is there any reason to take it in to have it done or is this something I can do? I have tools and I know the basics on how to change oil and check fluids. Do they do anything complicated with valves or fuel injection? Question really is do I need to spend 200 bones to get the maintenance done by a pro or do it myself? Thanks ahead of time for any advice.

Unless you have something against that $200, keep it and do the maintenance yourself. The dealer I bought it from told me that it wasn't until 12000 miles that you'd want to bring it back in for a full serivce, and even the warranty was covered as long as the 600 miles service was performed by them.
