R6 New

Hey Guys,

New to riding here. Picked the R6 as my first bike as it was the most comfortable for me. Im new to the bike scene, but have ALWAYS been interested and wanted to try it. I feel its something that I could easily have a passion for, but cant say that yet. I bought the bike yesterday, going to get the tags tomorrow as I have a final exam today. Then, plan on taking the course to be safe and know the in's and out's. I refuse to ride it without taking the course (at least farther then road right next to my storage unit).

Anyways, I'll post better pictures later or so, but this is all I have at the moment:

Its a 1999 R6, Blue and silver - wanted used because I will obviously lay it down at some point. Never been laid down, but has a few scratches because of the transport from the previous owner. Came with jacket and helmet already, so Im geared up! Also has a Yoshi exhaust and a set of aftermarket lights I dont really like, but wont complain about. The Yoshi isnt as loud as Id want it, but meh... I believe Ill survive.

Im excited to ride it, and Im happy with my purchase. I cant wait to ride it again - it was fun yesterday around the block.

Any tips and advice about riding or aftermarket parts that would be beneficial would be appreciated. I plan on buying blue HIDs and frame sliders already. The HIDs for added safety (being bright and all), and frame sliders to save the bike. :D Any good/fast/reliable websites that I can order frame sliders from?

Again, any tips and advice would be great!

nice bike, congrats!!!!! welcome to the forum. frame sliders, the proper gear, and the mfs course are the best things to start with, your on the right track.
Welcome to the forum. Bike looks great. For frame sliders try motomummy or tobefast and eBay is best for HIDs.
Thanks everyone!

I actually have some friends who own a parts company, mainly cars but they can get a hold of bike parts, and they said they can get me HIDs. Incase you were to need something, 813motoring.net. :p

Also, another question - what type of fuel should I use? Go premium or just low-grade? Also, would it be best to drain whatever is in there now instead of mixing?
They told me 91 at the dealership, but that's a good question and I've been meaning to ask that :)

The manual says to use 91 I think. That is all I've ever used. My friend has an 06 gixxer and his says to use 87 minimum.
welcome i always run the 93 pump
