Is there any model number on the side of the carburetors?

Personally, it looks like an FZR600 engine. Notice the little "fins" on the side of the case(to the right of the big white plug in the second picture). None of the r6 engines have those.

Thanks for the reply. It has Mikuni on one side and the flaps that lift up when the "throttle" would be engage has a symbol and has the numbers 130.

Thanks!

It was either an FZR600, or more likely a YZF600R. Both used the same engine, but the 600R gapped the generation between the FZR and the R6.

EDIT: Looking at them again, they are FZR carbs, the 600R had velocity stacks that attached to the intake face of the carbs by two screws. The FZR fit into the boots of the air box (which were the v-stacks) and had a clamp....like the ones in your picture are made to do.

...and that is definitely a 600R or FZR motor. Cam chain in the middle, trans mission isn't stacked, The cooling piping arrangement. Definitely not R6
