Hello. I just started riding this month and I have gotten stuck at 3 lights so far. I hear you can get these real strong eath magnets and mount them under your bike and they will trigger the sensor. anyone heard of this? Im tired of running redlights and i just started riding.

yah, i know that you can buy them..just not sure where too. usually what i do is just pull up a little farther so that the a car behind me can set off the sensor. but it kinda sucks when your in a turn lane and no one else is, and you keep getting ****ed on the green arrow

Forget waiting, run that shit. I tried waiting at first too until I ended up sitting thru 3 light changes without my green arrow. Anybody actually got a ticket for running a light that wouldnt change? If so, what was the outcome?

First, see if any hardware stores have them. Then you can return them if they don't help at all. Also, some (but very few) lights use pressure sensors, not magnetic sensors, so this wouldn't do jack. And I've never actually known anyone who used a product like this.

Down here in So Cal, most of our sensors are pressurized, not magnetic. Next time you get stuck at a light, try putting the bike in neutral and drop the kickstand. Sit on the bike with your full weight on the kickstand if you're on the sensor.
That's what the CHP's told me at traffic school... not sure how reliable the cops are but its worked everytime for me so far...

Rev the engine... moving metal creates a magnetic field as well. its the opposite of an alternator....

I don't use the magnetic deal. I usually wait and just go when safe. I haven't been caught yet, but I surely will explain that I have been there for a while. I just posted the link cause I did a search after I saw this thread. I also would like to know anybody that has this and if it is working for them. Yup I also do that park on the circle deal too. I keep telling myself did that switch cause I was in the middle.

I have one of these so called magnet things supper glued to my lowering link. Some lights change for me some don't, and seeing as I'm in a new city there is nothing to say that the lights that do change would have done so even if I didn't have the magnet. The sensors here are magnetic, and I was taught from the MSF to try to place as much of the bike on the open slits (covered by road tar) because this is where they bury the electronic wire.
Mine was free, but I would say for the hit and miss aspect of this thing to just run the light if it only happens to you every once and a while and keep the $10.00, Gas is expensive.

easiest to run them.. i wouldnt waste the time and effort on a 'possible' solution with a magnet. some of the lights here in indianapolis dont change weather its turning lane or straight for bikes.. i just run them.. just make sure the coast is clear.. :) oh and new to the forums.. kinda.. been reading forever.. think this is my first post tho.. 08 yellow/black r6 ill get picks up soon

you guys can just get off and go press the cross walk button which will make the light turn green.

i don't think most cops will understand if you run a red light. to those who are a-holes or are not riders themselves will say that running a red light is running a redlight, no exceptions. if you're lucky then hey....good for you. i just don't think running a red light instead of waiting for a few minutes to wait for a car to come by or just get off the bike and press the button yourself is worth $400, which takes WAY more than just a few minutes to earn.

not trying to be a smart ass...sorry. just looking out for the others.

I put it in neutral and roll back and forth over the rectangle where the sensors are...sometimes ill bounce up and down to get some extra pressure/weight. Seems to be working over the last 2 months or so since I've been doing it.
