Rode a brand new 600RR last night

last night, as I was on my way home from eating...I turned into my apartment complex and in the middle of the drive/parking lot there is a bike on its side and a young guy on the ground. His g/f right there too.

I pull over to the side, hit my hazards and jump out to find out the guy was coming around the corner and dumped it. Blood all over and he is in some serious pain...I check him out as a neighbor is calling 9-1-1.

He was wearing a helmet, tennis shoes, jeans and a Tshirt...He had two punctures in his foot, one right through the top of his foot, and one more toward the ankle. Almost looked like he stabbed by the peg. had rash all up his arms.

We got him laid down, foot wrapped with some pressure, slightly inclined on the curb, took a shirt and tied it around his calf snuggly to slow the blood flow to the foot. He was bleeding pretty good.

By this time I had forgot that someone called 911, and told his gf to get a car to take him to the hospital...i kinda forgot all about it until I heard sirens about 20 seconds later. haha...so in true Plano fashion, the firetruck was first, then the ambulance, then 2 Plano cops...(have to give them credit tho, all 3 would have beat the pizza people!)

By now, half the apartment complex is outside wondering what was going on. They load him on a backboard, with all braces and the air-cast on his leg, and into the ambulance.

Then the cop comes over and asks "why was the bike moved?" I was like..."are you kidding me?" I explained that it was in the middle of the road, on a corner, we thought we were going to be taking him to the hospital, I told him I moved it to get it out of the way, and to secure it while someone got a car. Then we heard sirens.

Anyway, all in all, guy went to hospital, did about $2K in damage to a brand new bike. Front fairing all mashed, headlights broke, left side all tore up, right side had some too (although not sure how) and that was just briefly looking in the dark.

I didn't know RSixxer was riding down for a visit. I hope he is OK. :moon

That's got to suck.
With the injury/s described and how the bike was damaged I would guess he was doing a wheelie and lost contol causing the bike to take the death roll. Not a good idea in T-shirt. Good thing he only hurt his foot. "Brush it off bro and ride on". Just be smarter.

WEAR GEAR!
he shouldnt be doing wheelies on a brand new non broke in bike any way... (if that is what he was doing)

i just paid 1700 to have new fairings (all 4) ordered on my r6.
Good looking out, that is a nice bike though.
actually, where he was laying, and where the bike was, and the fact that he was in our apartment complex driveway, there is no way he would have been doing a wheelie. He merely misjudged a turn as a new rider it looked like to me. I think his g/f was on the bike too.
Did the g/f have any road rash? Sucks about dumping a new bike. It takes time to get used to them and guys have to learn to take it slow.

Aaaw that sucks...
Man, that sux. Peg through the foot? Ouch....at least he still has his life.
it was gross. Looked like a gunshot hole in the top of his foot, and he was in some pain. Felt bad for the guy. I may have to stop by his place in the next day or two and intorduce myself and see how he is. He prolly doesn't remember me being there.
Man that sucks. Kudos to you for helping the guy.
That sucks, even though he had a Honda I still feel sorry for him.
yoda you da man!!! i would do the same also. im sure most of here would too.

Hey I think if you helped him, and he wasnt drunk, hes gonna remember you. Thats awesome what you did for him people up here would just keep driving probably. That would be cool though to stop by and see what the outcome was, and tell him not to ride passangers and you can give him some riding tips.

If all he was doing was turning into an apartment complex parking lot... how the hell did he do that much damage to his foot/ankle? I lowsided at around 40 (not 100%) and only had rash on my right knee and ankle (was wearing a jacket). I just can't get over the fact that he had so much injury.

Good job on helping out Yoda! :hammer
