Valentino Rossi completed two days of testing at the Brno circuit on Monday, completing key set-up work on the Yamaha M1 which the team had not been able to complete during the Grand Prix due to a lack of dry track time. The test was also a chance for Rossi to experiment with a new cowling, featuring a distinctive new air intake and aerodynamic design, as well as running through a batch of new tyres brought along by Michelin. “Especially we work on the tyres,” explained Rossi. “Michelin have a lot of new tyres and they are working very well, front and rear, and it is good for the future to improve the tyres. “We have a new cowling which we tried but anyway it is only a prototype. Now we check the data and maybe for the last race of the year. We worked a little bit on the mapping of the engine to make the engine a little more sweet, and more or less we finished. “It’s very hard work because after a Grand Prix, to make a test is not the maximum for a rider, for the concentration, but it’s very important because we have six races in a row now and it is one of the last chances to try and improve the bike.” To listen to this interview in full and watch Rossi and his MotoGP rivals in action at the test on Monday and Tuesday, click on the corresponding video links at the top of the page.
